Yesterday as a long one. We cycled from Van Horn to Fort Davis, both in Texas. we've just started our "1000 Miles of Texas". It's a big place. Van Horn is the home of the worlds first commercial space port. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Corn_Ranch
It was just about visible in the distance but I couldn't make out any spaceships although we did have a private blimp performing blimp aerobatics over our campsite in the evening. Either that or it was trying not to crash in the high winds that we had at the time.
The total distance for the trip was 91 miles, but they were some of the hardest I've ever done. I ended up setting off with the last group as one of the guys had developed a puncture overnight. Straight away we had very high winds in our face. This lasted 30 largely joyless miles, most of which was uphill so we struggled to make 9 mph. Nasty. Once we turned the corner for Fort Davis at Kent things got a little better (but not much) as we had the Jeff Davis mountain range to conquer. Along the way we passed the Mc Donald Observatory which we took a trip to in the van today. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mcdonald_observatory
I saw no aliens but I did personally move (via a remote control) the 39th largest telescope in the world (and the said I'd never amount to anything).
Finally tonight we met up with another tour who are starting a week long ride around the "Big Bend". We're sharing a route tomorrow so the roads will be busy.
Here are some pics.
